Today, I ran into Mark Kistler at “I Like Comic Con”, in Vancouver, WA.
Totally caught me by surprise, the second we walked in. You may remember him as Commander Mark from his show, The Secret City, on PBS back in the 80s. When I was in 3rd or 4th grade, I learned how to draw by watching this show, and I never stopped. Drawing led to cartooning, which led to portrait art, which led to a career in design, and most recently a return to my first love, drawing comic strips again. I am SO thankful to have an opportunity to shake hands with this guy and thank him for setting me on a path that truly defined my entire life. Looking forward to a great year of drawing and storytelling, ahead.
